Matthew Farkouh

Matthew Farkouh is a fourth year medical student at Ponce Health Sciences University in Puerto Rico and takes great interest in the field of emergency medicine. Matthew completed his Bachelors of Science in Biological Sciences at the prestigious New York University and went on to complete his Masters of Physiology and Biochemistry at Georgetown University. Through Matthew’s medical research and clinical rotations in hospitals across the island, he has gained a strong appreciation for the patient-provider relationship and widespread healthcare accessibility.

Matthew realized that as an emergency medicine physician one day, he would be in a unique position to not only treat acute injuries and illnesses but also to educate patients about the importance of skin cancer prevention. He believes in the importance of proper skin health education as emergency medicine physicians are trained in recognizing the signs and symptoms of skin cancer and can play a key role in facilitating the appropriate referral to a dermatologist for further evaluation and treatment upon initial evaluation.

In his spare time, Matthew enjoys playing pickleball, exploring new beaches, and hiking through the mountains of the island.
